2008 NOAA Restoration Day: June 2

On Monday, June 2, 2008, hundreds of NOAA employees and partners will participate in the 5th annual NOAA Restoration Day in two different states -- one Maryland and the other in Virginia.
This event is growing every year as NOAA employees in Maryland and Virginia work to restore habitat at two important sites in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. NOAA Restoration Day is one of the largest voluntary federal employee sponsored environmental stewardship events in the Bay watershed.
Maryland Event:
- Where: Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center
600 Discovery Lane, Grasonville, MD
(on eastern shore of Maryland, approx. 1 hour from Silver Spring, MD)
- Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Activities:
- Planting underwater Bay grasses grown within 22 NOAA office tanks
- Native oyster restoration
- Marsh grass planting
- Marine debris removal
- Digital elevation mapping
- Fish seining and sampling
- Invasive plant removal
- and more…
- Who: 120 NOAA HQ employees from all Line Offices

- Where: York River State Park (near Williamsburg, VA)
- Time:
10 a.m. -3 p.m.
