This page describes the sixth annual NOAA Restoration Day event. It includes details about the event. Agendas will be added closer to June 18.
This is the sixth year that the annual NOAA Restoration Day initiative will include two coordinated events held at different locations -- one on the Upper Bay in Maryland and one on the Lower Bay in Virginia.
Maryland Event Details:
- Where: Otter Point Creek, component of the Maryland Chesapeake Bay National Research Reserve

(approx. 1 hour 15 minutes north of Silver Spring, MD)
- What: On-going field event for HQ NOAA staff in Maryland to participate in restoration activities.
- When: Thursday, June 18, 2009
- Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

- Planting underwater Bay grasses grown within 22 NOAA office tanks
- Marine debris removal
- Planting native trees
- Digital elevation mapping
- Fish seining and sampling
- Invasive plant removal

- What: Fourth Virginia initiative, expanding upon Maryland's on-going event. Coordinated by the Virginia NOAA Chesapeake Bay office.
